Electronic Counter-Counter Measures

Electronic Counter-Counter Measures (ECCM), was the process of trying to work against the Electronic Counter-Measures (ECM) of the enemy.

If North America were attacked it was believed ECM would be involved to help confuse those who relied on radar.  It was thus important that Air Defence Operators be able to recognize and work against this ECM.

The Electronic Warfare Unite would try to recreate enemy ECM so that they could figure out how to best fight it.  Once this was accomplished they worked with others who needed to know how to recognize it.

Both radar operators on the ground and crews of the Voodoo squadrons were trained to understand when ECM was being used and how to work against it.  This was done over the Pinetree Line with C-119G Boxcars and to interceptors with CF 100 Canucks
