Pave Paws

Pave Paws was an American series of phased-array radars.   They were located at AFB (Air Forces Base) Otis in Massachusetts and Beale AFB in California, with additional radars at Robins AFB Georgia and Goodfellow AFB Texas. 

They took the place of six dish radars and were supplemented by AWACS.  They could find missiles from submarines 5,500 kilometres away.
